Yoshinori Masuda - Tiger 2

Winner of the 2015 Unseen Dummy Award, a collaboration between Unseen and Lecturis to showcase the work of exceptional artists and designers from around the world and give them a chance to realise and publish their photobook dummy, Yoshinori Masuda’s ‘Tiger 2’ presents an extensive series depicting a single tiger in its enclosure in a zoological park. We observe the majestic animal in captivity, in a static environment that only seems to change with the seasons, as snow appears and then disappears. We can see the reflections in the glass through which the photographer aims his camera. We understand that the tiger is not in its natural environment, and never will be.
