In 2001 two friends – Andrew Khedoori and Mark Gowing – founded an independent record label with the ambition of releasing good music combined with interesting packaging for like-minded listeners. This is the story of the ground breaking cover art that resulted from their adventure. A lavishly produced volume, Outside Material documents some of celebrated Sydney record label Preservation Music's most dynamic music packaging. Captured in the domestic environment, this book presents the visual culture of the music in action as a thing to see, hold and understand.
